At present, natural fishes of Bangladesh have been under heavy pressure. From time immemorial, people of Bangladesh have been involved in rapid exploration of natural fish traditionally. At that time, the abundance of natural fishes was very high. People from all classes used to catch fishes hugely. But failed, due to different environmental conditions: siltation and soil erosion in river basins; water pollution from industrial, agricultural and municipal wastes; construction of embankments for flood protection; injudicious and destructive fishing practices; outbreak of diseases; and loss of natural breeding grounds.
