The central concern of this book is cultural identity and its representation via literary texts. It casts a look at the major works of two writers of Indian and Nigerian descent whose work is emblematic for the turn that post-colonial writing has taken in recent years. The study aims to make an adequate comparison between post-imperial writers coming from two different parts of the formerly colonized space and draw a conclusion with respect to patterns that these writers use in order to assert their Otherness and construct an authentic identity. I use these literary works in order to demonstrate the variety of ways in which identity can be constructed and the fact that all cultures and identities relate to each other as much as they are different from each other in this increasingly globalized world. The book is addressed to all who are passionate about post-colonial literature and take special interest in the works of Rohinton Mistry and Diran Adebayo.
