The book analyses the representations of women of color in Diaspora literature produced in the South Asia and the U. S. Original and provocative, the study compares and contrasts the women representations in the novels written by the three writers Ali, Angelou and Sidhwa. Looking at these representations as they are shaped by socio-cultural milieu in home land and diaspora, the writer has looked at some of the strategies of empowerment taken up by the women protagonists in the novels under discussion. As such, the book studies the concept of diaspora as it constructs and shapes the sexual politics. Referring to the canonical literature from Feminist and Diaspora studies, the study endeavors to study the concept of modern diaspora as it is represented in the novels under discussion.
