There has been an increase in socio-economic activities after Zomba was declared a city in Southern Malawi in 2008. Sites within Zomba such as Songani and Namiwawa have not been spared as they are potential areas for expansion of the city. The study was carried out to assess the socio-economic activities along the catchments of Songani and Namiwawa rivers in Zomba, Southern Malawi, and their impact on water quality. This book gives out the methodology and results of the study which should help policy makers, different stakeholders and anyone willing to carryout similar study. Furthermore, it gives an insight to the need for protective measures to avoid irreversible deterioration of the water resources due to rapid expansion of the cities.
