The Book is divided into eight chapters. The chapter on introduction explains the concept of Local government and importance of local governments with special reference to urban bodies and it also contains theoretical framework of the study. The objectives and methods of data collection were also explained in this chapter. The historical view of the municipalities in general, a close study of municipal government and politics in India, are given in the chapter two. The third chapter give a brief profile study area i.e. Parvatipuram Municipality. The fourth chapter deals organizational structure of Parvatipuram municipality. The fifth chapter deals with the municipal politics in Parvatipuram. The sixth chapter gives an analysis of socio, economics and political background of the councilors and their perceptions. The seventh chapter deals with the perceptions of the citizens on the politics in the municipality . The last chapter gives a summary of the study and conclusions, observations and suggestions.
