This study investigate the poor achievement problem that is often a confounding feature of the primary and secondary education. In Nigeria, students are faced with difficulty in learning and understanding of mathematics concepts. The problem has variously been attributed to factors such as poor quality of teachers, of teaching, of instructional materials, of students attitudes and perception of the subject, of cultural and/or social status of the subject in respect to students gender. There have also been persistent calls for a thorough study of the problem with a view of tracing its causes and suggesting solutions to it. The present study is a contribution to search for a solution of this problem. The author therefore proposes an integrated medium of instructional process (ethnomathematics approach) to replace the preexisting method of teaching (conventional or traditional method).
