Nonprofit ? forprofit alliances is relatively new and growing field in Norway; and it lacks strategies and deep understanding of reasons and consequences of such collaboration. The study examines motives, perceptions and drivers of partner choice in nonprofit ? forprofit collaboration in Norway through the set of interviews with cooperation responsible representatives from both, nonprofit and business, sides. 29 interviews have covered three main topics: how parties find and choose each other; purposes, motivations and perceptions of such alliances; and specifics of Norwegian approach to them. Data was collected in August ? September 2009. The results of study describe forms of nonprofit ? forprofit collaboration in Norway, shed lights on difficulties and preferences in partner choice, discovers relevant signals of nonprofit quality for business and of forprofits? motivations for nonprofits and business society. Data also reveals the significance of differentiation among Norwegian nonprofits by field of their mission, which has different importance for corporate partners and donors.
