This book provides a methodology based on the Analytic Hierarchy/Network Processes (AHP/ANP) to assist telecoms planners to make informed decisions for the selection of technologies for rural telecoms infrastructure. The book is organized in nine chapters: Chapter 1 through 2 present an overview of rural telecoms to explore the knowledge in this field. Chapter 3 discusses the current planning approaches to rural telecoms and explores past research in relation to rural telecoms planning. Chapter 4 through 5 discuss the AHP/ANP methods including the nature of hierarchal and network approaches and their use in complex decisions. Chapter 6 through 7 deal with the formulation and estimation of the AHP, ANP and ANP BOCR models to comprehensively examine and create the evaluation and selection framework for rural telecoms. Chapter 8 validates the proposed ANP model in a real case study that entails Libya?s sole telecommunications provider with respect to the operations and the level of the technological infrastructure. Chapter 9 concludes the book by summarising the work done and the results achieved. The chapter sums up by giving concluding remarks and the recommendations made.
