As an interdisciplinary venture, the focus of attention of this study is on examining the interrelation between the city and cinema in terms of myth. In that vein, highlighting the mythical character of the urban context as it finds expression by the cinematic medium, it is aimed at revealing the (re)creation of city myth through cinema, which is an elaborate perceptive vehicle for a specific way of picturing and enframing the cityscape. Specifically speaking, the destruction of the city myth of ?stanbul which has hitherto been (re)produced in Turkish cinema will be examined through the prominent examples of the 90?s Turkish films in the light of the historical changes in the spatial and social representation of Istanbul.
