Novel methods for synthesis of silver nanoparticles (SNPs) with well-defined size and shape are reported by using reducing agents, ionic liquids and plant extracts. The silver nanoparticles synthesized by these methods shows excellent antimicrobial activity against strains of different bacteria. The results indicated that such particles have potential application in biotechnology and biomedical science.
