Agricultural History of Basona Warana District, Ethiopia 1974-1991 Yeselamwork Sherif

This book examines the agricultural history of Basona Warana district, North Shäwa Zone, in the Amhara National Region, Ethiopia. The study intends to make a modest contribution to the overlooked local study of agriculture. The time frame for the work coincides politically with the ?socialist? government known as the Därg (1974-1991). As a result, the historical analysis of agriculture of the area is treated in relation to the ?socialist? oriented policies of the regime. It shows the reaction of the people of the study area towards the new policies and its effect on the industriousness of the district. In addition, it reconstructs on whether the new social order records significant changes in the livelihood of the people or otherwise.
