An Enactment Infrastructure for Business Process Specifications
John Mylopoulos
The ultimate goal of this book is to design and develop an infrastructure that supports the establishment and fulfillment of commitments. The specific issues addressed involve identifying the shortcomings of current business process modeling notations, developing a commitment-based interaction mechanism among participating parties as an enactment framework for business processes, and implementing a reasoning service for propositions. The implemented framework has also been experimentally evaluated for scalability. The main contribution of this book consists of adopting the concept of commitment from the field of Multi-Agent Systems to business process modeling and enactment.
