Due to the recent demand for green energy and environmental friendliness, a growing number of people are getting anxious about their personal daily power usage. The aim of this research work was to design a device that measures and monitors various aspects of AC Electrical Power for different industrial appliances wirelessly and provide its user with real-time power graphs and data display on a remote system. The result of this work is a device which acts as a computer-controlled remote switch, which can turn the electrical appliance on/off on need basis. The appliance under monitoring is properly connected to this device where a microcontroller performs the current/voltage sensing using the appropriate electronic sensors, and through a Zigbee transmitter, transmits the signal wirelessly to a Zigbee Receiver, which would then be serially connected to a PC. The obtained signals are then processed, and variables are displayed on a remote PC using LabView. This text explains the construction and working of this device which has been successfully fabricated.
