Different Operating Modes of Rosetta's Ion Composition Analyser Remigiusz Pospieszynski
Different Operating Modes of Rosetta's Ion Composition Analyser
Remigiusz Pospieszynski
The work describes author's struggle with creating a software model of a real instrument that is on route to visit the 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko comet. The model had to be created in order to perform simulations of the real instrument that is placed on board the Rosetta probe. To conserve energy, many instruments are off during the flight. The subject of the dissertation was to find out when the particular instrument (in this case the Ion Composition Analyzer - ICA) should be turned on, for how long and what data it will collect during that time.
