Exergy is a thermodynamic potential use in measuring useful energy. Exergy analysis is a thermodynamic analysis technique based on the second law of thermodynamics which provides an alternative and illuminating means of assessing and comparing processes and systems rationally and meaningfully. The performance of engineering systems is degraded by the presence of irreversibilities and the entropy production. The thermal plant was simulated using HYSYS simulation software and Excel spreadsheet was used for the energy and exergy analyses and optimization. The energy and exergy values generated were used in carrying out the efficiencies and irreversibilities of the Power Plant.
