This work is about comparative study of postoperative outcome in patients with and without nasogastric tube decompression after gastrointestinal surgery,patients were divided in two groups one with nasogastric tube and another group without nasogastric tube decompression in postoperative period in various elective as well as emergency cases and it was concluded that nasogastric tube can be safely omitted in post operative period regardless of emergency or elective cases.
