HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases are having devastating effect on the health of the adolescents, particularly girls and young women. HIV/AIDS among children and adolescents is frequently the result of sexual and gender based violence, of rape, sexual relations with HIV positive partners, prostitution and sexual slavery. The majority of the newly infected people with HIV/AIDS are young people below 25 years in age (NACO, 1996). The National Family Health Survey indicates that amongst girls in the age group of 13-19 years, the knowledge of STDs and HIV/AIDS is low. Keeping in mind this this research has been conducted.
