This work examines current employment practices in Jamaican Hotels within the wider context of the gendered reality of work in the industry. It discusses the probability that even though women are qualifying themselves for work in the field and are performing at high standards, many are still unable to make it to the top. Indeed, they perceive themselves as being between the 'sticky floors' of line level work and the proverbial 'glass ceiling' which separates them from upper management roles. This book assesses the issues surrounding the failure of the industry to retain its qualified professionals, in particular its women.
