Brucellosis continues to be a zoonosis of worldwide public health and economic importance. Transmission is mainly through consumption of raw milk or animal contact. The clinical diagnosis of brucellosis is difficult especially in the early stages when the infection must distinguished from other causes of prolonged fever. The epidemiological significance of each animal species is determined by the Brucella species that normally infects the species.
