The dynamics of violence and sexuality related issues within the kenyan context is a panacea for alot of potential for increasing relevant knowledge on an area that is mainly shrouded in ingorance and secrecy. It is worth noting that the underpinning perception of dating is that it is done within the context of 'loving relationship' and violence experienced within this kind of relationship may perpetually be ignored. This connotes an underlying need for research on prevalence, risk factors and social competence of dating violence among technical institutions students in Nyanza Province in Kenya. Dating violence here includes Psychological, physical and sexual forms violence. The risk factors included childhood witness and experience of family violence, financial and material exchange, alcohol use, verbal aggression and anger expression. The social competence in the study were communication, anger management and negotiation skills. This was used as a measure to determine if the skills acquired through social studies were applicable in dating relationship encounters.
