Dietary factors play a key role in the development and preclusion of several human diseases, including cancer, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases (CVD). The aim of this communication is to give a comprehensive overview of the beneficial health effects of flavonoid-rich foods (FRF) and discuss the action of dietary flavonoids as antioxidants. We examines existing literature on different FRF like fruits, vegetables, beverages and herbs, providing enough evidences about their health promoting effects. Due to their significant disease prevention and curing abilities especially in multifactorial diseases like CVD, these are regarded as superfoods of the millennium.
