In modern Agriculture farming is based on maximum output in the short run with inadequate concern for inputs such as use of quality seed, use of an appropriate intercropping system and use of inadequatinorganic N. Quality of seed is one of the factors that determine success or failure of the productivity of any crop. Use of recycled seed(saved seed from the previous crop seasons)is avery common farmer`s practice Cropping system and nitrogen fertilizers inputs are some important factors in seed/grain production, but all of these input factors may not all be suitable for quality seed yield production. According to the past research work on intercropping system there is alot of information on effect of Nitrogen fertilizer and intercropping system on yield of beans under-maize intercrop but very litle or scanty information on their effect on qualiity aspect of seeds of beans under bean-maize intercrop. The study was initiated for the purpose of developping an appropriate combined intercropping pattern and Nitrogen fertilizer rate technology that is economically viable and could be able to produce a clean recycled seed, hence saving a farmer some cost of buying certified seeds yearly
