Tube feeding (enternal feeding) is a medical device used to provide nutrition to patients who cannot obtain nutrition by swallowing. Placement may be temporary for the treatment of acute conditions or lifelong in the case of chronic disabilities (i.e. burn, prematurely, central nervous system problems, severe cerebral palsy, and head trauma, after surgery, gastrointestinal diseases, cancer and diabetes). Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a health problem affecting millions of individuals worldwide. Generally, there are two types of diabetes mellitus, type 1 (T1DM) and type 2 (T2DM). T1DM only accounts for 5-10% of DM but more than 90-95% are of T2DM.
