The research examined some of the contribution of Ayo Samuel to the development of church music in Nigeria. Ayo had a strong passion for music, which he developed through his involvement in the church which led to formation of a band, and also grooming of the Junior Choir of the Emmanuel Baptist Church Ilorin, which was used for performing and trying out his several compositions and where he also served as Organist for thirty one years. Findings from his selected works that were notated and analyzed show his uniqueness in blending instruments and voices also, an in depth understanding of Yoruba tonal inflections that were carefully structured in his compositions.
