Genetic Evaluation for Leaf Webber Resistance in Sesame L. Nadarajan

Sesame leaf webber and capsule borer, Antigastra catalaunalis Duponchel is a serious pest of sesame in India and World. Presently synthetic insecticides are extensively used against this pest. Sole reliance on chemical pesticides is not recommended while considering their effects on non-targets, insecticide resistance and residual problem. Host plant resistance is a potential approach as it gives cumulative protection. In this book the studies involving genotypes screening and mechanism of resistance in sesame genotypes against leaf webber has been elaborated in detail along with the standardized screening techniques. Our book contains useful information about resistance source, genotypes evaluation procedures for the researchers to carry out large scale screening for insect resistance.
