Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is one of the major non-communicable diseases and a leading cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide. The natural course of COPD is complicated by co-morbidities which are often overlooked in low and middle income countries like India. Depression is a major co-morbidity of COPD and there is a lack of information regarding depression among patients with COPD in India. This study was conducted at a tertiary level hospital in Kolkata, a city of North India, to find out the prevalence of depression and its risk factors among patients with COPD. This study provides the necessary information regarding depression among patients with COPD.
