The red organ pipe coral Tubipora musica is very attractive to dealers and hobbyists in recent years as its tissue is hardy, easy to maintain, and tolerant of aquarium conditions relative to most true corals. This coral is also used extensively in jewellery and as ornaments beside having considerable medical and scientific value. It seems to have suffered from illegal collection from the Egyptian Red Sea coral reefs, as evidenced by the arrest of several major smuggled collections of its skeleton beside being one of the 15 most worldwide traded genera of corals. This book aims to providing basic knowledge on that economically important red coral beside providing a case study in the Red Sea, Egypt categorizing it as vulnerable and providing possible solutions for countering that threat.
