Epidural Fentanyl & Clonidine As Adjuvants for Postoperative Pain: a Randomized Prospective Study for Comparison of Effectiveness in Hip Surgery Patients
K. L. Tulsiani
Postoperative pain is a major concern for the surgeon, anaesthesiologist, nursing staff, patient and his family. Various drugs with different routes of administration have been studied and employed for its management. Despite extensive work already being done, there is still much scope for more research with an ever increasing number of available drugs. This book, thus, presents a randomized prospective study emphasizing upon a very effective mode of postoperative analgesia i.e. epidural analgesia for managing postoperative pain in patients undergoing hip surgeries. Further, the effectiveness of fentanyl and clonidine as adjuvants to bupivacaine has been compared. This work should be especially useful for the personnel involved in postoperative care of surgical patients.
