Bioecology of Apanteles Taragamae, a Parasitoid of Maruca Vitrata: Biological Potential Assessment Elie Ayitondji Dannon

An attempt to the classicalbiological against Maruca vitrata(a key cowpea insect pest)in Benin is made with the introduction from Taiwan of the parasitoid Apanteles taragamae. The work described in the present book evaluated the potential of the parasitoid as biocontrol agent with special emphasis on its reproductive capacity, functional response, climatic adaptability, host foraging capacity and non-target effects. The results revealed that A. taragamae was suitable biocontrol agent against M. vitrata. Information provided in this book should be useful to biological control practioners, ecologists, researchers, students interested in developing sustainable agriculture.
