Promotion of Small Livestock Development for the Rural Poor: the Case from Northern Vietnam Thi Minh Thai

Against the backdrop of poverty caused partly by traditional agricultural management among poor rural farmers in Vietnam, this study examined the small livestock production among poor farmers in the North of Vietnam, explored the adoption of extension techniques provided by the project, assessed benefits and satisfaction of farmers on small livestock raising, analyzed factors associating with household?s income from small livestock. This aimed at identifying problems and potentials in small livestock development and suggesting recommendations to strengthen the promotion of small livestock practices and implement more effective support for poor livestock farmers in the future.
