Remote mirroring provides excellent solution for disaster-recovery, high data avail- ability and business continuity in face of catastrophes which would otherwise severely compromise the primary data and result in tremendous data and revenue losses. Synchronous mirroring or asynchronous mirroring (replication) enables customers to have an instantaneous recovery, and eliminate loss of access to storage during disasters. But the Cluster mirroring can transform your existing server storage into a high avail- ability storage system that is managed as a single SAN. The cluster mirroring tries to reduce the response-time and provide high availability storage. In this book, we attempt to evaluate the performance evolution of IP-SAN using cluster mirroring mixture model and show that it can be performed satisfactorily and economically, without requiring the costlier FC-SAN option.
