Oral health is an essential and integral part for maintaining quality of life. Oral health is a standard of health of the oral and related tissues and is concerned with maintaining the health of craniofacial complex, the teeth and gums as well as the tissue of the face and head that surrounds the mouth. Tooth loss, dental caries periodontal conditions, mucosal diseases mainly constitutes oro-dental problems. A healthy smile and the ability to speak and eat without pain or discomfort are critical to general health and well being. State employees are the backbone of the functioning of the state government. With many facilities government officers and officials are supposed to be living good quality of life with good oral health status. This study has been taken up to assess the oral health status and treatment needs of the state government employees at Shimla city whose outcome will be an eye opener for planning better oral health care and preventive programmes for these employees and to extend more facilities for dental care.
