Choice Deferral in Trade-off Decisions: the Effects of Age, Decision Styles, and Processing Strategies
Yiwei Chen
The ability to make decisions is essential to our everyday life. We are what we decide. However, in real life, we may put off making decisions (i.e., decision deferral), which could have serious consequences. For example, regarding medical decisions, if we keep on putting off making decisions, it might have negative consequences on our health. The present study explored various factors that correlated with choice deferral. Using MouselabWEB to trace how participants' process information, our findings revealed that different processing strategies combined with different processing time correlated with the likelihood of using choice deferral.
