The Horn of Africa is often considered a crises ridden region of the continent. Intra-state and inter-state conflict, drought, famine and serious food insecurity as well as lack of good governance have remained the main features of the region. Economically, the Horn of Africa can be characterized as the most deprived and the poorest region in Africa. In the Horn, the most basic needs of life (clean water, food, health care, education) are luxury to the majority of the populations. In the political sphere the absence of democracy is another element of destabilization. The Horn of Africa has been the target of terrorists because of the political aim of international terrorism and the region's geopolitical significance. The region has highly suffered by the act of terrorism. The analysis should help shed some light on these peace and security challenge to the region.
