The main objective of this research work was to document the ethnobotanically important plants of Pabna region, located at the Northern part of Bangladesh. For this study, 5 villages from char land and 7 villages from main land area were selected and different participatory methods (structured, semi-structured interviews, informal and focus group discussion) were employed to gain access to the information. A detail survey was conducted to identify the different professional groups living in the study area. The pattern of livelihood of the local people, their professionalism and plant based traditional knowledge were also studied. In this investigation, eight different professional groups were classified and 311 plant species were documented which were widely used by the local people for different purposes in order to obtain their livelihood. This research explores that people of the study area possess a strong base of ethnobotanical knowledge by which they continue their daily life. Basically, char land people use more wild plant resources than mainland people in their daily life.
