Plants suffer from a number of fungal, bacterial and viral diseases thereby causing anormous damage in there productivity. Fungal diseases are very important. Pea (Pisum sativum) is a leguminous plant. It provides protein to those who depend mostly on vegetarian food. Hence, pea finds an important position in india as most of the people are vegetarian and also the meat protein is very costly. The producton of pea crop is largely hampered due to several diseases where powdery mildew incited by Erysiphe pisi is the most important one as immune varietes are hardly available in commercial production. A number of methods are available to control this disease including the use of synthetic fungicides but the later ones are being discouraged by people because of their anormous health hazards. This has led to gravitate towards finding out alternative ecofriendly methods to control this disease. The authors have tried to find out methods to induce immunity in pea plants which can resist them from the attack of Erysiphe Pisi. THese methods are very safe towards human health and environment and the same have been dealt in detail in this book.
