Nowadays, the corporate sector plays an important role in the overall economic development even for developing and underdeveloped economies. For example, the corporate sector in India has been witnessing substantial growth specially after 1980s in terms of number of firms and size of paid-up capital. The corporate sector of India has also played a progressive role in building fixed capital, generating employment, discovering new technology, raw-materials and markets, and widely catered the needs of the consumers. This became more prominent after 1991 when the country adopted economic liberalization and accorded a greater role than earlier to the corporate sector in the overall growth process of the economy.
