When Jack is struck by lightning during a summer storm, he finds himself transported to Deeping Woods where the mysterious Mrs Nightshade reveals that his soul has been split into ten pieces. Each lies in the possession of one of the planetary gods from his astrological horoscope. Accompanied by Isabel, Jack sets out into the forest, where he must confront each of the gods in order to recapture his soul. Using his wits and courage, and learning all about astrology along the way, Jack moves ever closer to discovering who split his soul in the first place...and why he is really here...
