"There is no Constitution - not in this country."After receiving a cryptic warning from a mysterious stranger, the last thing John Jouett expects if for him and his mother, Sarah, to become the test subjects of the secretive "Project Surge"; the product of an organization designed to send them to an America where the Constitution was never ratified. But that's just the first of their troubles. Seen as fugitives in their own country, they seek the help of the Keepers, an underground resistance whose single goal is to bring down the new government, the Ascendancy, and restore what never was, the United States Constitution. With the help of Jason and Sophie Adams and a new friend named Orson, John and Sarah must fight back against the Ascendancy's ruler, the Monarch, and learn the mysterious past of the Keeper's leader, TJ.
