Alan doesn't consider himself a hero. He lives a comfortable life in Seattle, Washington, that allows him freedom and fulfillment. However, it isn't until after a shocking incident that he realizes something is missing.

That something may just be a very special stone entrusted to Alan by a mysterious woman. His new friend, a gypsy fortune-teller, tells him that accepting possession of the stone means assuming responsibility for it. Alan has no idea how big a promise he is making.

Suddenly, Alan is being chased through the streets of Seattle by a group of criminals after the stone. Still unsure of its true meaning, all Alan knows is that there are people out there willing to kill to retrieve it. In his effort to protect the stone and find its rightful owner, Alan will make unlikely allies and journey thousands of miles away from his home and everything he holds dear. As he delves deeper and deeper into the mystery of the stone, Alan will realize that the physical world and the boundaries of his old existence are growing thinner by the day. There is something transcendent, fantastic, and truly sublime waiting for him at the end of his journey.
