Getting fat is Twila Taunton's biggest problem until drugs, kidnapping and murder come to Quisby, and then everything goes to hell. Twila is called on to help out-of-town private investigator and Viking-lookalike, Algie Bykowski follow up on a lead to a large designer drug distribution and child trafficking operation believed to be in Quisby. Things get serious quickly when a body is found floating in the creek near the swimming hole, and then children start being kidnapped. Twila is frustrated when Algie keeps disappearing, she's excluded from the FBI's investigation, and her love life takes a turn for the worst. On top of that, Big Bart tells her and her friends they're getting fat. It's not their fault that Pam Taylor sends a feast to the Redneck P. I. office every day at lunchtime to thank Twila for getting her released from prison. They wouldn't want to waste it. Everything leads to a dead end until Twila re-visits the only lead they've found in the middle of the night.
