What do you think about when you think about creation? Some Christians don't think much about it. Others think only in terms of creation versus evolution. Still others focus their attention on which model best fits the evidence - theistic evolution, progressive creationism, Intelligent Design, or six-day creationism. Some see creation as one of many biblical teachings, a truth that we affirm in some of our creeds, but not a top priority doctrine to be studied. This book is not intended to support one side or the other of the debate about the age of the earth. Rather its purpose is to raise Christians' awareness of the importance of the doctrine of creation, regardless of how old they think the earth is. Creation is mentioned hundreds of times in the Bible after Genesis 2. It is the first thing we are told about God in Genesis 1:1, and it is crucial to the Bible's message all the way through the closing chapters of Revelation. If the biblical authors repeated it so often, shouldn't we pay close attention?
