Telling Tales II: Memoir Guidebook, is the second volume of a two book series. The title of the first book is, Telling Tales: a Memoir Guidebook. Telling Tales II was born at the prodding of students who had finished two years of classes, done the exercises in my first book, written and transported one another with hundreds of stories, and wanted more. So, I challenged them to pick up the pace and depth of their writing and we'd call it an "advanced series." As soon as these already fine writers walked through their conceptual doors of "advanced," many of them lost their footing in the swamp of acute self-consciousness. Clearly, that didn't work. No more "advanced" classes. Still, they continued to tell me that they wanted to stretch and grow in their writing. I thought about it for a bit, and then we tried something else. This book is where, and how, we traveled together next.
