Catalina Jane Robins (called CJ by her friends and family) is over the life she is living. At eighteen years old, she is tired of her daily routine, plagued by mental illness, self harm and familial dysfunction. CJ decides to buy a bus ticket and run away from home and wherever she wakes up, that will be her NEW home. She ends up in the town of O'Leary, Nebraska. There she meets Zebediah Jameson, a wild-hearted hippie and rehab runaway with a dark past full of opiod addiction and a current penchant for selling mass quantities of marijuana. Despite the dangers he presents, she ends up staying with him and his two roommates, Jeremy and Krystal. Living in Jeremy's grandmother's former home, there she gets used to a life of debauchery, adventures and seemingly harmless drug use. That is, until a terrible event happens that changes her life forever. Having to pick up and start over the life she thought she knew, Zebediah goes back to his old habits with their two best friends, Kaylie and Dominik. This is a story of struggle, a story of mental illness, of the horrors of addiction, of the dangers that come with abuse of power. This is a story of rebirth, of going to the darkest parts of yourself and still being able to climb back out and fight for your life. (The author does not own any of the media references in the book. Although some of the characters and subject matter have been inspired by true events, this book is entirely a work of fiction)
