The sixth novel in the Jill Tanner, PI, series, OUT OF SIGHT, finds Jill during the holidays, harried as everyone, except that she has her favorite purse ruined by radiation exposure from a stolen credit card someone tried to use at The Vault (it belongs to a Peruvian diplomat rumored to have had his young wife murdered). Thinking that the situation has been resolved, Jill tries to help an undocumented family robbed of their household goods and Christmas gifts, but starts receiving anonymous threats against childhood friends-on a photo greeting postcard that they send to each other from time to time. The image of some of these friends is blotted out, with threats written on the back of the card. And it appears that someone is following her. Jill must race against time to figure this out and prevent deadly consequences, as these events all seem related, like a backward puzzle where the pieces obscure the whole picture.
