Resenting his young son, a father makes the boy's life miserable due to his strong resemblance to his mother who died a horrible death. All the time living in the shadow of an old asylum that hangs over his family as a constant reminder of a proud heritage destroyed by needless scandal, shamed by a town they once cherished. A young woman, thrown into the middle, wakes up unable to move her arms or legs, losing all memories of her past, memories of today disappearing into thin air, as a jealous brother-in-law plots her demise.
