Mary's husband has been missing for seven years, and is about to be declared legally dead (allowing her to collect on his life insurance policy and catch up on the late mortgage payments on their hobby farm). However, two days before the court hearing that will have him legally declared dead, John walks back into Mary's life just as unannounced as he had walked out. Before Mary has the chance to sort out her feelings toward her long-absent husband, the police respond to a concerned neighbor's report of suspicious activity at the farm, where they find John's body at the bottom of an abandoned well. While there is no doubt that John is now indeed dead, the question is, 'who killed him?' Was it Mary, so she could collect the life insurance money that she desperately needed? Was it Tina, Mary's close friend (and the maid-of-honor at Mary and John's wedding), who is hiding a secret that could shatter Mary's life?
