Officer Oliver Brighton and Officer Sidney Marsch both hope to make detective, but there is only one spot open. They partner with the only female detective on the force, Annette Spear, as they land a case that might send their careers headed in the right direction. The search for a missing girl opens the doors to treachery, murder, and a wide-spread evil that has destroyed the lives of two brothers and their children for generations. Annette struggles with being a woman in a man's world while both men have to face memories of their own past as all three are met with events that are out of their control and they watch as their golden case slowly grows cold.
