From the Introduction: In the freedom we have, we can remain immersed in our self-interests, if we wish, without concern should another person be suffering; an animal, or even a tree! What if, God forbid, it should turn out that those same self-interests, lead us not into true liberation, which they may promise, but rather into captivity? It's no fun to have been deceived and made into a slave; a prisoner, where a spirit of desperation prevails!, but one cannot know unless one experiences this. What must one then do to escape? This short story is written in hope that it may present an incentive to avoid falling into a trap, or should we have done, to face our 'own' fallen state as King Cedwood, and to have at least some kind of understanding what it means to be reconciled with our Creator alongside the rest of creation.
