Thirteen-year-old Andie is an aspiring detective. With the help of her best friends Haley and Todd, her brother Harry, and accompanied by her cat Bill, Andie tries her best to solve mysteries for her family, neighbors and friends. She has not been entirely successful in her new career, but she throws herself into every case with an intractable resolve. Over the summer break, Andie stumbles upon a dicey case without even realizing it. While investigating a cryptic gift left on her best friend's doorstep, Andie slowly begins to realize something alarming is going on in her neighborhood. A smashed window in a neighbor's garage, a suspiciously behaving caterer, and a possible foiled burglary attempt all cause Andie's investigative radar and Bill's whiskers to sense that something is amiss in Forest Hills.
